SUMMARY:Worlds We Create
DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets\n General Attendance seating with discounts for youth and seniors. \n \n Purchase\n \n	This is the third season Rainbow City has performed at Benaroya Hall and our 27th season overall. At our three concerts each season\, we present both our concert band and our orchestra who split the show\, letting you experience a broad array of sounds and styles presented by two of our dynamic artistic directors\, Timothy Norris and Dr. Christopher T.F. Hanson. \n	We’re eager to welcome two of our chamber ensembles to perform in the lobby before the show and during intermission. Come early and enjoy a drink or a snack and claim your chosen seats. \n	Flûtrange\, our flute choir and oldest chamber ensemble\, has performed at venues as various as the Seattle Flute Festival\, the 5th Ave Theatre\, and caroling on street corners. Their warm welcome to all skill levels has been a refuge for many and their performance continues to inspire. \n	Seattle String Chorus\, one of our newest chamber groups\, finds inspiration in performing choral works rearranged for strings. This flexibility allows for a focus on balance and beauty of the sound while welcoming any string players to join for a new way to perform and spread heart and soul in our community. \n	We continue to welcome new members to join our ensembles\, and we’ll be eager to present our largest concert band and orchestra yet presented. You’ll marvel at the beauty that so many musicians can muster as one with nearly 200 members of our community performing through the evening. \nTransportation to Benaroya Hall is easy with a parking garage directly below the building\, or you can skip the traffic and arrive by bus or light rail (Symphony Station). \nWe are always seeking to remove barriers to experiencing music\, so for the second year we will be offering free access tickets by request to our performances thanks to a generous grant from 4culture.

SUMMARY:Bells and Whistles
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this second annual recital for two of our dynamic chamber ensembles: Flûtrange and Emerald City Horn Choir! You will hear beautiful sounds from these interesting ensembles in the sonorous sanctuary at University Congregational UCC in the U District. \nOur flute choir\, Flûtrange\, includes all sizes from piccolo to the mighty bass flute. It’s a gorgeous harmony that bends so finely all coming from the most beautiful of musical instruments. They have been an active ensemble for over 5 years and rehearse regularly to perform in venues throughout the region. \nEmerald City Horn Choir started two years ago under the baton of Caleb Gomes\, one of our staff members and a composer and arranger. The ensemble shows off the talented and dynamic french horn players of Rainbow City in a brass sound that can be both delicate and powerful. You’ll be moved by the color and passion of these players as their bells point their sound back to reverberate and mix in the cavernous space. \nPlease join us for this wonderful evening of music which is free with a suggested donation to cover costs.

SUMMARY:A Gift of Music
DESCRIPTION:Join the musicians of Rainbow City Performing Arts in a lovely evening celebrating the holidays with diverse offerings of music to celebrate many end-of-year traditions. The theme of this concert is “gift giving” in a multitude of contexts. This may refer to birthdays\, anniversaries\, Christmas\, Hannukah\, Kwanza\, or others. \nThis event is free to attend with a suggested donation to help support the Rainbow City Scholarship Fund. \nMusicians of our chamber groups come from all seven of our performing ensembles and chamber music brings together members from across the organization. Chamber music offers new and different opportunities for learning and connection. It also provides a firmer sense of belonging for members. This is a growing program within Rainbow City and we are proud to continue to support our members in forming their own ensembles. \n \n REGISTER FOR THE EVENT

SUMMARY:The Gift of Music
DESCRIPTION:Join the musicians of Rainbow City Performing Arts for an unforgettable evening of jazz and chamber works at the University Congressional UCC on December 10th at 7pm! Featured RCPA ensembles include Rainbow City Jazz Band\, The Pentacorns\, The Back Row\, Flûtrange\, and No Strings Attached. Read on to learn more about each ensemble and their offerings to the concert! \nThe Rainbow City Jazz Band is made up of instrumentalists and vocalists alike who can’t get enough swing! This 20-year-old ensemble is a random collection of 17 musicians playing jazz with a desire to jam with one another in order to support the community. Their set this evening brings a jazzy take on religious and secular seasonal music such as This Little Light of Mine\, Whoa Christmas Tree\, This Christmas\, and The Man with the Bag. \nNo Strings Attached is a group of 6 musicians from the Rainbow City Orchestra who are thrilled to join forces for two delectable tangos; Piazzolla’s iconic Libertango and Turner’s Tango Expressivo! \nThe Pentacorns is a brass quintet composed of members of the Rainbow City Band\, the Rainbow City Jazz Band\, and Reign City Riot. You won’t want to miss these 5 sets of lips on silver as they perform Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity and Angels We Have Heard on High! \nThe Back Row\, an ensemble composed of the back row of low-brass players in the Rainbow City Concert Band\, will take the front of the stage to delight you with a setting of Biebl’s Ave Maria transcribed by our very own Caleb Gomez as well as a fun-filled arrangement of the classic Jingle Bells! \nFlûtrange will blow you away with their performance of the classic Ukrainian Carol of the Bells\, Muramatsu’s Far Away and theme music from Game of Thrones. Flûtrange was founded in 2018 when Max Baldonado\, a founding member of RCPA\, and Siva Sankrithi\, came up with the idea of an RCPA flute choir. French for “queer flute”\, and a portmanteau of Flute and range\, our group features concert flutes\, piccolos\, alto flutes\, and bass flutes. The group has performed at numerous chamber music gigs\, community events\, and senior living locations over the years\, and also helped develop and test the famed Upbeat Music App\, which allowed us to rehearse and perform remotely through the pandemic.
