DESCRIPTION:After a multi-year hiatus\, Rainbow City Marching Band is set to make a triumphant return to the Celebrate Kirkland 4th of July event. This comeback marks a significant moment\, as the band’s vibrant performances were once a staple of the festivities. Our return is not just a revival of tradition but also a rekindling of the joy and unity that our music inspires in the heart of Kirkland. \nTraditionally\, Rainbow City Marching Band’s participation in the Celebrate Kirkland event has been a highlight\, showcasing the diversity and talent within the community. Our performances\, featuring a repertoire that ranges from stirring patriotic tunes to contemporary hits\, have always been a crowd-pleaser\, drawing people from all walks of life to join in the celebration. As we march down the streets this year\, the band will carry with us the legacy of past parades\, while also embracing the opportunity to create new memories and start fresh traditions with the residents and visitors who gather to celebrate Independence Day. \n\n\n\nAbout the Event\nCelebrate Kirkland is a vibrant Independence Day event that brings the community together in a festive atmosphere. On July 4th\, 2024\, the city of Kirkland will host its annual parade from 10:30 AM to 02:00 PM at Marina Park. The event features a family-friendly parade with local shops\, dance groups\, music\, government representatives\, and a special honoring of veterans. It's a day filled with joy\, patriotism\, and community spirit\, where everyone is welcome to join and keep the tradition alive. Please note\, there will be no fireworks display as part of the event. \nAbout the Performers\nRainbow City Marching Band\, Drumline\, and Rainbow City Color Guard are three of the performance ensembles of Rainbow City Performing Arts. They perform at various parades\, festivals\, and community events throughout the year\, bringing joy and color to the streets. Rainbow City Marching Band plays a variety of music\, from pop to classical\, with a focus on fun and entertainment. Rainbow City Color Guard adds visual flair and movement to the band’s music\, using flags\, sabers\, and dance. Together\, they create a dynamic and diverse show that celebrates LGBTQIA+ pride and inclusion. \nAbout Rainbow City\nRainbow City Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization that celebrates LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion through musical expression. Rainbow City consists of seven performance ensembles that play various genres of music\, such as jazz\, orchestra\, sports band\, and drumline. Their mission is to create a safe and supportive environment for musicians of all identities\, skills\, and backgrounds\, and to promote the equity and visibility of LGBTQIA+ people in the community. The nonprofit also supports young and marginalized artists by commissioning new works and providing instruments and scholarships.
