SUMMARY:Marching Band/Color Guard Info Session
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Optimism Brewing on March 31 to learn more about our summer marching ensembles! \nRainbow City Marching Band is a non-audition ensemble for players who are 18 or older. We work to provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for all musicians to be able to excel musically\, have fun\, and become a part of our “band family.” We have members who are still in school\, active musicians as adults\, and those returning to their instrument after many years. \nSpinOUT is our growing color guard who this year will be sporting a new look. We will be debuting new uniforms to match the new silks we purchased last year. SpinOUT is open to those of varying abilities and we have had many members who are returning to guard after a long stint away. We’ll help you get back into shape as well as develop new friendships! \nThe RCB Drumline is a tight-knit group that includes additional rehearsal time which starts sooner to learn our newly written cadence and drumline solos each year. We play not only at parades\, but other community events that need the enthusiasm we bring. \nWe participate in several parades and events through the summer\, including Fremont Solstice\, Seattle Pride\, Band Jam (with the Seattle Schools)\, Bellingham Pride\, and Vancouver B.C. Pride. We’ll also be having many non-marching events through the summer as a pep band at some events in Seattle and Tacoma. \nCome meet us\, ask questions\, and learn more about the band!

SUMMARY:Justice for All: Heroes
DESCRIPTION:As the third program in our 2018-19 Transformations season\, Rainbow City Concert Band presents our second annual Justice for All concert with an exciting program entitled Heroes\, including music celebrating everyday people and how\, in times of struggle or necessity\, we have the capacity to transform and conquer adversity. We want to shine a light on these transformations to our fellow community members\, especially in our audience. \nWith music ranging from Samuel Barber to Julie Giroux and pieces dedicated to Rosa Parks\, Tecumseh\, and Amelia Earhart\, this concert will touch all parts of what it means to be a hero. We’ll even feature one of our own members\, Allison Fortenberry\, singing a selection from La Cage Aux Folles. \n\nWe are very excited to announce that this concert will also highlight our community spotlight and partnership with Ingersoll Gender Center\, and honor a hero of equality\, Marsha Botzer\, as our guest speaker! All proceeds of the intermission raffle will go to Ingersoll Gender Center to support their mission of envisioning a world that nurtures healthy communities free from violence\, centers self-determination for all people\, and celebrates all gender identities and expressions.
