Fremont Solstice Parade 2024
The Fremont Solstice Parade is not just an event; it’s a vibrant expression of Seattle’s creative spirit, and at the heart of this jubilation is the Rainbow City Marching Band. Since its inception in 1998, the band has been a beacon of joy and inclusivity, marching proudly through the streets of Seattle. The band was founded to provide a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ musicians and has since become a symbol of diversity, acceptance, and community celebration.
Each year, the Rainbow City Marching Band brings its unique blend of music and merriment to the Fremont Solstice Parade, contributing to the event’s reputation as a family-friendly festival of whimsy and wonder. The band’s history is rich with moments that have delighted audiences, from the stirring sounds of brass and percussion to the colorful swirl of the color guard’s flags. Their participation is not just a performance; it’s a statement of pride and a display of the enduring spirit of Seattle’s diverse communities.
About the Event
The Fremont Solstice Parade itself is a spectacle of human imagination and community collaboration. On June 22, 2024, the streets of Fremont will come alive with giant puppets, stilt walkers, floats, dancers, cyclists, and musicians—all powered by the people, for the people. The parade route starts at the intersection of Leary Ave N and N. 39th St, winding its way to the iconic Lenin statue, and culminating at the Fremont Rocket. It’s a place where everyone can be an artist, and every artist is celebrated.
