As a core member of the central staff, you’ll help to support aspects of all eight of our musical programs along with a team of volunteers.

JOB SUMMARY

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the logistical and operational needs of performances, events, and the management of assets and equipment. This role ensures that all productions run smoothly by coordinating venues, transportation, and equipment maintenance. The Operations Manager plays a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency while supporting the artistic vision of Rainbow City Performing Arts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages all logistical operations for performances, including venue coordination, equipment transportation, and setup.
  • Oversees the inventory, maintenance, and distribution of organization-owned instruments, uniforms, and performance assets.
  • Works closely with Artistic Directors and production teams to ensure performances are executed efficiently.
  • Coordinates scheduling and contracting of venues for concerts, special events, and other performances.
  • Implements best practices in performance logistics, asset management, and event planning.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies regarding equipment usage and storage.
  • Develops procedures to streamline performance operations while supporting accessibility and inclusivity.
  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills that align with and support the organization’s mission and core values.
  • Complies with the organization’s by-laws, policies, procedures, and code of conduct; seeks clarification and guidance as necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages volunteers assisting with performance operations, transportation, and equipment handling.
  • Assigns tasks related to event logistics and ensures timely execution.
  • Provides guidance and support to team members working on operational aspects of performances.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Experience in performance logistics, event planning, or production management.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of asset management, equipment maintenance, and transportation logistics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Artistic Directors, production teams, and external vendors.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

  • Previous experience in operations or event coordination within a performing arts or nonprofit setting preferred.
  • Understanding of performing arts logistics and production requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work involves lifting, transporting, and setting up performance equipment.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment varies depending on the venue or performance setting.
