Big Day of Play 2024
Come out and join us at Seattle's Big Day of Play event at the Rainier Playfield. Hear our marching band and color guard stand in one place, so you get to hear our full set! We play starting at 1pm, but we will have a table at the event all day, so come say hello and learn more about our opportunities to play or hear music with us in the upcoming season. We're proud to bring our diversity to the community at Seattle's Big Day of Play!
About the Event
Big Day of Play is a celebration of Seattle’s diversity, encouraging neighbors, communities, and families to have fun, build relationships, and be active together. Expect live music, food trucks, sports instruction, tournaments, inflatable bounce houses, games, a block party, and a vendor fair.
About the Performers
Rainbow City Marching Band, Drumline, and Rainbow City Color Guard are three of the performance ensembles of Rainbow City Performing Arts. They perform at various parades, festivals, and community events throughout the year, bringing joy and color to the streets. Rainbow City Marching Band plays a variety of music, from pop to classical, with a focus on fun and entertainment. Rainbow City Color Guard adds visual flair and movement to the band’s music, using flags, sabers, and dance. Together, they create a dynamic and diverse show that celebrates LGBTQIA+ pride and inclusion.
About Rainbow City
Rainbow City Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization that celebrates LGBTQIA+ diversity and inclusion through musical expression. Rainbow City consists of seven performance ensembles that play various genres of music, such as jazz, orchestra, sports band, and drumline. Their mission is to create a safe and supportive environment for musicians of all identities, skills, and backgrounds, and to promote the equity and visibility of LGBTQIA+ people in the community. The nonprofit also supports young and marginalized artists by commissioning new works and providing instruments and scholarships. You can support their performance through volunteering or contributing at rainbowcity.org.
