JOB SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Programs Manager, works collaboratively with other staff to ensure smooth ensemble operation and assists the Artistic Director with executing their vision.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. REHEARSALS:

  • Ensures members upkeep rented spaces and follow venue guidelines.
  • Communicates rehearsal schedules in advance and any disruptions as soon as possible.
  • Oversees set up or tear down of the space each rehearsal.
  • Coordinates with the Artistic Director to ensure timely opening and locking of venues.
  • Communicates information for members to be prepared for rehearsals and other organizational events and initiatives.

2. MEMBERS:

  • Ensures equitable application of ensemble policies to all ensemble members.
  • Maintains an accurate roster for the ensemble and ensures members are in good standing by operating an attendance process and utilizing software to check payment status.
  • Works with section leaders to ensure new members are oriented and connected to the ensemble.
  • Leads ensemble members to coordinate distribution of promotional materials.
  • Oversees the distribution and collection of equipment and instruments.
  • Coordinates assistance for members who need help to be able to attend rehearsals or performance due to transportation or ability.

3. PERFORMANCES:

  • Participates in operational planning for all performances.
  • Works with the Operations department to ensure venue, technical, and performance needs are met.
  • Supervises any support staff in moving and setting up equipment.
  • Ensures areas where members gather are maintained after each performance.

4. MEETINGS AND REPORTS:

  • Attends recurring staff engagement and program development meetings when possible.
  • Assists the Artistic Director in providing a report about program activity each quarter.

5. OTHER:

  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills that align with and support the organization’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Complies with the organization’s by-laws, policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and member covenants; seeks clarification and guidance as necessary.

  • Effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Ability to work with digital applications for roster management

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work involves walking, talking, and hearing; using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The individual may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry objects up to 25 pounds.
  • The individual will often work in environments with high noise levels, typically ranging from 70 to 100 decibels, due to musical performances and rehearsals.
