Title Ensemble Manager – Rainbow City Marching Band
Reports to Ensemble Director
JOB SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Ensemble Director, works collaboratively with other staff to ensure smooth ensemble operation and assist them with executing their duties.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Rehearsals:
- Ensures members upkeep rented spaces and follow venue guidelines.
- Notifies members about upcoming rehearsals in a timely manner and communicates disruptions as soon as possible.
- Directs set up or tear down of the space each rehearsal.
- Ensures the opening and locking of rehearsal spaces as needed.
- Communicates all needed information for members to be prepared for rehearsals.
- Coordinates the distribution and collection of uniforms.
Members:
- Ensures equitable application of ensemble policies to all ensemble members.
- Maintains an accurate roster for the ensemble and ensures members are in good standing.
- Works with section leaders to ensure new members are oriented and connected to the ensemble.
- Leads ensemble members to coordinate distribution of promotional materials.
- Oversees the distribution and collection of equipment and instruments needed for performances.
- Coordinates assistance for members who need help to be able to attend rehearsals or performance due to transportation or ability.
- Updates and distributes forms and information to prepare for band camp.
Performances:
- Interfaces with event organizers prior to a performance and ensures all requirements have been met to allow participation.
- Communicates performance details to members and staff with appropriate notice when possible
- Ensures areas where members gather are maintained after each performance.
Meetings and Reports:
- Attends the monthly staff meeting on the first Thursday of every month during planning and performance periods
- Assists the Ensemble Director in providing an ensemble report every month
Other:

- Complies with the organization’s by-laws, policies, procedures, and member covenants; seeks clarification and guidance as necessary.

- Effective communication, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- Have participated at least one season with the organization.

- Work involves walking, talking, and hearing; using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The individual may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry objects up to 45 pounds.
- This individual will often work in environments with high noise levels, typically ranging from 70 to 100 decibels, due to musical performances and rehearsals.
