The Support You’ll Have
We’ll provide training in volunteer management software, guidance from our Executive Director, and collaborative support from our Governance & Personnel Committee. At Rainbow City, we work as a team to ensure our goals are met and our mission thrives.
JOB SUMMARY
The Volunteer Program Coordinator administers the volunteer support program for the organization. This includes volunteer onboarding, management, engagement, and support. This role will maintain our volunteer program, track volunteer contributions, connect volunteers with recurring organizational needs, and create meaningful engagement opportunities that support the organization’s mission.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Connects volunteers with managers and staff seeking recurring volunteer support.
- Recruits, sources, and screens candidates for open volunteer positions.
- Matches volunteers with appropriate roles based on skills, interests, and organizational needs.
- Conducts onboarding and orientation of new volunteers.
- Maintains documentation to track volunteer participation, contributions, and other relevant information.
- Prepares regular reports of volunteer hours.
- Develops and maintains accurate volunteer databases and tracking systems.
- Provides ongoing support and communication with active volunteers.
- Addresses volunteer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly.
- Communicates to volunteers about benefits and other opportunities provided.
- Develops and maintains volunteer position descriptions, onboarding and orientation documents, website volunteer page content, and recruitment collateral.
- Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills that align with and support the organization’s Mission and Core Values.
- Complies with the organization’s by-laws, policies, procedures, and code of conduct. Seeks clarification and guidance as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Proven team leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
- Proficiency with electronic spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Experience with volunteer management software preferred.
SUPPORT
- Training in the use of volunteer management software.
- Support from the Executive Director and other staff to orient new volunteers.
- Support from the Governance & Personnel Committee to develop Guild program.
